I never thought we would finish this one! The uber hot & humid weather has been working against us all the way. The desk is on hold once again waiting for our attention. Cross your fingers it will get finished this weekend.
On our way to pick up another treasure last weekend we spotted this cute little table.
Once it was in the truck I mentioned to Mr. S that I’d like to make it a game table. He suggested my favorite game….. Othello. Great idea! Also it’s a great excuse to finally give DIY chalk paint a try. I’ve been reading about it for quite some time now and the chances of the real deal coming anywhere near our area are slim to none so DIY it is!
Picked up the ingredients listed at Lizmarieblog.com and now the fun begins!
Here is the before. Notice that cute little drawer just perfect for holding the game pieces?
*yes that is me squealing with delight*
I do believe that I’m in love with chalk paint!
Applies nicely
Dries quickly
What more can a girl ask for?
Totally out of character, i’m loving those racing stripes we put on the drawer. They represent the lightening speed at which I will beat my opponents *giggle*
I LOVE to play Othello! It is my all time favorite board game.
The standard othello board is an 8×8 grid of squares, the same as a chessboard. However, the squares are usually all green and not in a checkered pattern. For our table we used barn red and a very light grey for the board.
I can see many a winter evening spent at this table.
Anyone up for a game of Othello?

So cute!! Othello happens to be my favorite game too and I play it almost every Sunday with my kids, who by the way are harder to play against every time. This is so cute, I would have never thought to finish a table like this with a game design. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Shiloh! It’s been around for a long time, but it’s rare that I find anyone who plays it….. especially as much as I do.
